Basic information

PME was approached to provide a complete overhaul of the rotary kiln drum cooler.

The main requirement of the customer was clear: Make the most efficient use of older equipment and partsthat could be renovated or repaired, thereby reducing the total investment cost.

This was a big challenge for us — the need to implement comprehensive risk analysis, revision findings to all potentially applicable parts and subsequent evaluation of their meaningfulness compared to the cost of repairs, repairs or production of new parts.

Implementation procedure

  1. Thorough inspection of the equipment directly at the customer — identification of parts that have potential for further use.
  2. Selective transport to PME — transport of only those parts which, after the initial inspection, showed the possibility of rework or repair.
  3. Detailed revision finding in PME With the help of modern NDT method (non-destructive testing) we verified the actual state of the individual components.
  4. 3D Scanning and Digital Modelling — creating an accurate image of the original equipment as a basis for the design of repairs or the production of new parts.
  5. Design work and processing of new production documentation — design of optimal solutions with regard to refurbished and newly manufactured parts.
  6. Production of new parts — according to the documentation and 3D models, we have produced new radiator components.
  7. Repair of original parts — we repaired the cracks by welding process tailored to each damaged part, incl. insertion, precision machining and other renovation work.
  8. Installation of new bronze bushings — fitting and precise fitting with a guarantee of service life and functionality.
  9. Finishing finish — protection of refurbished and new parts against wear and corrosion.
  10. Workshop assembly — final assembly and checking the correct operation of all assemblies.

Summary

Thanks to a detailed approach, a combination of modern diagnostic methods and many years of experience of our engineers, we were able to fulfill the customer's demand for meaningful use of older equipment. The result is Significant savings in investment costs and at the same time prolonging the life of the device for many years.
